Lorquí shares its experience in LIFECityAdaP3 in Portugal to talk about sustainable development

The partner municipality travels to Portugal as a consultant, and explains aspects of the Life CityAdaP3 project as an example to create and offer opportunities for the implementation of sustainable city development strategies.

Lorquí travels to Coímbra, Portugal, as a consultant to share his experience in the implementation of sustainable urban development strategies within the 'EUI peer review' project. The aim was to advise and instruct three cities in this field: Coimbra, Igoumenitsa (Greece) and the Association for the Development of Athens West.

In the case of Lorquí, it worked with the Greek city of Igoumenitsa. The rest of the cities were Padova, Lodz and Alba Iulia.

Lorquí, together with Murcia, were the only Spanish cities selected for this call of the project. During these intense and profitable days, information and experience of LifeCityAdap3 has been shared, in which the municipality participates as one of the partners of this project on adaptation to climate change, which has allowed the town to carry out interesting actions such as the rehabilitation of the cabezos, in which it has applied different innovative solutions in the Ermita-Scipión hill to mitigate its erosion. In addition, through City AdaP3, a cave house Las Trillizas has also been restored.

The City Council has reached numerous agreements with local companies through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to be able to implement these actions, as public-private collaboration is one of the keys to this project.

And it is precisely this aspect of the project, which has been a source of inspiration and learning for the participants of this conference in Coimbra, as the municipal technician, representative of the City of Lorquí in Portugal, Luís Bernardeau, explained how to create and offer opportunities for the implementation of sustainable development strategies of cities, being public-private partnership one of them. In addition, topics such as the recruitment and integration of stakeholders in the urban strategy or monitoring and evaluation in the development of the strategy were addressed.
