Six companies and organisations collaborate to set up LIFE CITYAdaP3 in Alcantarilla

Hidrogea, Plasbel, IFF, Copele, Asepio and Endeco participate through their CSR with the City Council and the EU in the pilot project of the Multimodal Platform for pedestrians and cyclists adapted to climate change.

Six companies and entities collaborate in the financing of the LIFE CITYAdaP3 Project, which aims to improve adaptation to climate change in the urban environment, through the implementation of local adaptation plans, within the framework of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, making use of financing schemes based on a public-private partnership in which local companies participate.

In Alcantarilla, it is materialised by developing a pilot action consisting of the construction of the first Multimodal Platform for pedestrians and cyclists.

This is a pilot project that will link the Plaza Adolfo Suárez with the Polígono Industrial Oeste and will allow bicycles and pedestrians to circulate in lanes reserved especially for them, which will also have a shaded area and a system for filtering and reusing rainwater.

The project, financed by the European Union's LIFE programme, involves an investment in Alcantarilla of more than 387,000 euros, of which 54,000 euros will be provided by Hidrogea, Plasbel, IFF Murcia Natural Ingredients, Copele, the Business Association of the West Industrial Estate (Asepio) and the Park's Conservation Entity (Endeco), in a public-private financing formula. The European Union has invested 185,000 euros and the Alcantarilla Town Council is contributing 148,000 euros.

The first section of the Platform to be executed within the LIFE CITYAdaP3 project will be 600m. long and will form part of the axis on which the future sustainable mobility network of the municipality will be developed.
