Between October and December 2021 the LIFE CityAdaP3 project made great strides in Reggio Emilia.
From a political and administrative point of view, the final project of the pilot action 'Climate-friendly parks' was presented to the City Council and the 'Environment' Commission of the City Council.
In terms of communication and citizen engagement, the executive projects of the 4 'climate-friendly parks' were presented to citizens with ad hoc meetings, in particular in the framework of the neighborhood workshops where the 4 parks are located.
Moreover, free walking tours to Marco Biagi park and Grimaldi park were organized for local citizens, to illustrate the details of the urban forestry pilot action and answer to questions and doubts.
The LIFE CityAdaP3 project was also presented during an event organized in the main square of Reggio Emilia on the occasion of the 'National Tree Day'.
The project is also achieving good results in the engagement of local companies: a workshop with the local stakeholder group was held on 12 November 2021 to start the co-production phase that will lead to the identification of new pilot actions. In total, 18 companies attended the workshop and presented some first ideas that will be further explored in the next meetings.
Finally, on 15 December 2021 the Infoday of the project took place with a dedicated seminar: "Climate change: from words to facts. Adaptation projects and actions", during which the recognition plaque was delivered to the local company Til s.r.l., co-financier of the first pilot action 'Climate-friendly parks'.
The project is now going through a very active phase, thanks to the beginning of the reforestation works of the four parks, for which the identification of the construction company has been completed and the construction site is imminent.
