The partners of the Life City AdaP3 project, funded by the European Union and led by the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM), met on 2 February in the plenary hall of the Lorquí Town Hall to review the status of the actions undertaken within the framework of this project.
The representatives of the various municipalities participating in this project for urban adaptation to climate change, Alcantarilla, Lorquí, Molina de Segura, Reggio Emilia, detailed the progress of the pilot actions carried out in their different municipalities.
After their presentation, the chair of Social Responsibility of the University of Murcia, also a partner of the project, commented on the participation in the course of corporate social responsibility created for this and the next actions to be carried out with the companies collaborating with the actions of Life City AdaP3.
The meeting was attended by Eurovértice, partner of the project and the independent monitor who, as part of the control actions of the European Commission, reviewed point by point the milestones achieved so far.
The Life City AdaP3 project started in 2020 and has a duration of four years. Its partners meet periodically to ensure compliance and good progress of the agreed actions, as well as to exchange good practices to be emulated by the other participants.
The most significant aspects of the meeting with the monitor who collaborates in the review of the project were to record the progress made since the last meeting and to detail the next steps of the project, which are mainly focused on the replication of the pilot actions in other municipalities, the ideas competition launched by the FMRM, the data obtained from the meters installed in the works carried out, as well as the increase of companies that have joined the project within the framework of the public-private partnership.
After the meeting, most of the participants visited the works in Lorquí which have been completed. These works correspond to the pilot actions for the adaptation of the municipality to climate change: the stabilisation of the slopes by means of geocells and installation of wooden pergolas for the tempering of the area, rehabilitation of the cabezos to mitigate erosion, and restoration of the cave house as part of the containment of the cabezos and preservation of the historical heritage of Lorquí, in which the sound map of the municipality has been located.
